About me

Ceri-Lou Newman (Cert. FP)

The Vale of Glamorgan has always been my home, having grown up in Penarth and now living in Barry; I am therefore proud and honoured to serve the people and families of my local and surrounding areas.

Following 17 years in the event management industry, I retrained as a Funeral Director studying with the Independent Funeral Directors College and became a Certified Funeral Practitioner. I have supported families by providing a range of funeral care services including creating and conducting funeral services.

I found this new vocation, that involves helping and supporting families who are often experiencing a difficult time in their lives, extremely rewarding. I then went on to train with Mountain Celebrations (Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy) and am a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants.

I am a great advocate of the family and friends being as involved in the arrangement, care of their loved one and funeral service as they feel comfortable and will do whatever I can to encourage, support and realise their wishes throughout the process.
I am passionate that funerals should be about the individual; that people should come away knowing more about the person than they did before.
I recently had a member of the congregation come up to me after a service and say ......

“I actually didn’t know him personally, I am just here to support my colleague (the deceased’s daughter), but after that service, I felt like had known him for years. I probably shouldn’t say this but it was the most ‘enjoyable’ service I have ever been to! You spoke with such warmth and empathy for the family; you could tell that you really cared. You have really found your calling haven’t you?”
I was so grateful that this gentleman took the time to share his thoughts with me as what he recognised is exactly what is important to me; conveying a unique life lived and helping the bereaved friends and family in their healing through creating a fitting tribute.

I would be honoured to work with you in crafting a special funeral for your loved one.
